About You
I told myself not to write: About You,
what else is a guy to do?
A little off-putting, I’ll admit,
I’m somehow still not over it.
Met on a Wednesday, couple past noon;
who knew by Friday I’d be entombed?
Gripped by memory: flawless face, angelic voice--
I’d go back to September if given the choice.
Dipping down 33 at 85:
late, as always, a little droopy-eyed.
You park yourself, Sonata; dress: blue.
A tactic? My eyes are glued to you.
Captivated by words, animated by sounds,
with a cultural stubbornness of endless bounds.
Beautiful yet somewhere troubled,
parts still emotional rubble.
Victorious, in a class of your own;
like a menthol cigarette: chilling to the bone.
I’m picking up what you’re putting down,
seeking affection like an Italian greyhound.
...
After too many Corona with lime,
my mind clocks in for double-overtime:
Where are we headed? New York, Greece, or Rome?
Our even existence a palindrome...
Finding more in common minute to hour
I’m trying too hard not to let this sour.
Stumbling through stories that sound intriguing,
now I'm just unwittingly stacking reasons
to call your ex, resume watching seasons.
After too many Corona with lime,
your words begin to slip into half-time.
Where are we headed? New York, Greece, or Rome?
Way too soon you have me feeling at home.
Future attempts start to look feckless
as your hand rebounds against my chest,
with Mati watching from your necklace,
I’m sent reeling--pending cardiac arrest.
...
I told myself not to write: About You,
what else is a guy to do?
Your voice sealed in unfading soundtrack;
my memory: looping playback.
what else is a guy to do?

Iambic Pentameter
I love how I've been left behind so quick,
Thrown away in a maneuver so slick.
And you've found someone else who could feed you
All the lies that you could possibly chew.
In a desperate attempt to move on,
I've become vandictive from dusk to dawn
Just hoping for each morning to come soon
So I could make it to the afternoon.
Although when I get enough sleep to dream,
I can still feel you lying next to me
Your touch softer than a cool valley stream,
And we are exactly where we should be.
My only wish tonight will be for you,
To come back home where we can start anew
And forget all the misleadings in past
So we can be back as one at long last.
And though this feels like it's been a long flight
Of hetic, uncontroled emotions,
We could be back home safe and sound tonight
If only you would put end to this fight.
Thrown away in a maneuver so slick.
And you've found someone else who could feed you
All the lies that you could possibly chew.
In a desperate attempt to move on,
I've become vandictive from dusk to dawn
Just hoping for each morning to come soon
So I could make it to the afternoon.

Days of the New
These are days of the new
Where I go crazy being all for you
To be the best kind of man
Though you'd be unlucky to know I have a plan
For us as time goes on
Because of you I've grown quite fond
Between your red hair
Between your blue eyes
Perfection somehow lies.
The shine of each smile
Could you please stay for a while?
What am I to do
When my curiosity abounds
And you my decisions surround?
Caught up with no sense of time
I'm stuck trying to read your mind
To know if you're thinking what I am;
If the next step should be in plan.
But if not,
Its really up to you.
I'm still rendered unsure
If its the right thing to do.
Though I want you more
Than I've ever wanted something before.
Where I go crazy being all for you
To be the best kind of man
Though you'd be unlucky to know I have a plan
For us as time goes on
Because of you I've grown quite fond
Between your red hair
Between your blue eyes
Perfection somehow lies.

My New Generation
Ideas of a new generation
Are pouring in like
A total recreation.
It's a wonder I can keep my sanity
Without losing the best of me...
It's been a few years
And I've learned a lot about you,
My dear,
You're immature games,
You're devious ways.
You proclaimed your love to me in vain
And put me on the path
To only cause others pain.
The disappearing mark
Of a lost love
Has me stabbing in the dark,
Now,
Looking for a work around.
I've made some good decisions,
I admit,
Taking what was left of you
Without having to commit.
You're misunderstanding my morality here
So let me make myself perfectly clear:
I'm doing this to teach you a lesson...
You're thinking I'm a waste of time,
But all I'm doing is being a mime.
I'm treating you how you treated me
Which means I won't be around
To clean up the debris.
I'm not taking any orders;
I'm calling all the shots.
I expected you to act the same again:
To disown me as anything more than a friend.
But I guess you finally grew up to see
That the way you always treated me
Was wrong.
It's too late now, though,
You'll never be anything less than a foe.
And even though it pains me to see you hurt,
I just laugh at my stupidity for caring.
Now I've involved myself in some things
I used to think were daring,
But it's a lot better than involving myself in you...
I'd do anything these days
To keep me away from your devious ways.
This is my new generation,
And I, myself, am a total recreation.
I'm not taking any orders;
I'm calling all the shots.
Are pouring in like

Ocean Side
Now shortly after the deciding bomb,
My rough seas of thought are finally calm
And my mind starts to wander to that day.
I recall all that you had to say,
Our hands swung together with every stride
Walking together by the ocean side.
All was perfect when you gave me your ring,
My heart could only ask for one more thing:
Together forever, just you and me.
And our bright future was all I could see.
It was on that thought I had set my heart,
Cause you made those promises from the start...
But now that's all too far gone, said and done
And you put an end to all our old fun.
Those memories bring back more emotion,
Than crashing waves we saw in the ocean.
I only remember the way we were
And that's the us that I truly prefer.
Although you're onto something new with him;
You've still got me waiting out on a limb
For you to realize that he's not the one
And I'll be ready for us when you're done.
I wish we were back walking in the breeze
We walked in that day a few months ago,
As our hands swung together with every stride,
Walking together by the ocean side.
My rough seas of thought are finally calm
And my mind starts to wander to that day.
I recall all that you had to say,
Our hands swung together with every stride
